What it's all about

I've been meaning to write about this
particular post for some time and am
so glad to finally be getting around to
it!
I wasn't quite sure how to
put in to words how much this particular post
meant to me, but here goes...

A month or so ago
{before Christmas}
Emma came home from
school with a list of things
from the 'holiday shop'
at school. The 'holiday shop'
is a place where the kiddos can
shop for their loved ones just like a big kid,
without Mommy or Daddy!
Emma got a chance to preshop and
pick out a few things that she'd like
to buy!
Emma had been saving her
money that she had earned here and there
and she totaled the amount that she would
need to buy the things on her list, she
counted $16 in quarters, dimes, nickles,
& dollars. She was SO proud!
Later that day,
I went to pick her up from
school. She was beaming with
excitement! I figured she was excited because
she had bought herself or Abby some neat toy or
book, never in my wildest dreams did I expect
what was to come next...
she climbed in to the car and exclaimed
"Mommy! Look what I got for you!"
completely taken by surprise, I said,
"For Me?" she said yes and handed me a velvet box.
I said, "well, is this for Christmas, maybe I should
wait to open it." she insisted that I open it right then!
So, I did! I was oddly extremely emotional about
1. the fact that my precious 6 year old could have bought
anything she wanted in the store for herself, yet she spent
all of her money one me. Her Mom.
2. My baby girl was growing up, she had made
her very first purchase, without mine or Daddy's help.
a selfless purchase.
one that I will remember for the rest of my days.
I opened the velvet box to find
a necklace with a matching pair of earrings
I struggled to keep tears back,
one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me.
"Oh, Emma, I LOVE it!" I exclaimed and hugged my
precious girl.

{my heart!}
she's had it since day one,
and always will :)

Emma Grace, you truly are learning
an important life lesson,
that it is better to give than to receive!
And this Momma couldn't be prouder!
